The Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County opened its doors in 2008 and was the first organization in Lapeer County to create a child-friendly place for child abuse victims to share their experience.
The organization joined with other local agencies, including the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Coalition with SANE-SART Services of Lapeer County and the Lapeer County Council for Children. These connections allowed the center to provide both emergency and scheduled forensic medical examinations for adult and child victims of sexual assault. At this time, prevention services were also added.
The Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County and LC-SAFE moved to a brand new, state of the art facility that greatly expanded the organizations’ availability of services. With the generosity of the Lapeer County community, this new building offers a safe and private space for clients.
