About the CAC
The Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County provides a nurturing, friendly, and safe environment for the intervention of child abuse cases in Lapeer County. All services are provided at no cost to a child’s family. Each year, CAC Lapeer serves hundreds of children (and their caregivers) who have experienced sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, or who have witnessed a violent crime.
What is the CAC Model?
When it is suspected that a child has experienced abuse, law enforcement and child protection professionals may call the Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County. The Center specializes in helping children and families navigate a complex system while staying focused on reducing trauma and providing support.
The Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County is the only nonprofit in Lapeer County involved in the investigation of crimes against children. Center staff work in partnership with all the necessary agencies, including law enforcement, prosecutors, child protection professionals, medical & mental health professionals, and others to coordinate a plan of action.
Referrals for service must be completed by law enforcement or Children’s Protective Services. All services are provided completely free of charge.
