Family Support

The Child Advocacy Center provides ongoing family support throughout the investigation. This can include helping with:

  • Understanding the criminal justice process

  • Providing crisis intervention

  • Filing Crime Victim’s Compensation paperwork

  • Court support

  • Transportation assistance

  • Linking families to community resources

Every family that is referred to the CAC has a designated family advocate who serves as their primary point of contact and support. The family advocate begins by meeting with caregivers before the child’s interview to address concerns, answer questions, and discuss any needed support moving forward.  They are available for support throughout the appointment, and can help facilitate a referral to the CAC’s therapy services.

In the months after the interview, the family advocate continues to follow up with caregivers to receive updates on the family, encourage engagement in services, and provide resources and support as needed.
