Multidisciplinary Team

A Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) is at the heart of a Child Advocacy Center, ensuring a coordinated, child-centered response to cases of child abuse and neglect. This team brings together professionals from various fields—law enforcement, Children’s Protective Services, medical and mental health providers, prosecutors, and victim advocates— who collaboratively investigate and support children and families in crisis. By working together, the MDT reduces the need for multiple interviews, minimizing trauma for the child while ensuring a thorough and effective response to each case.

The MDT approach enhances communication and case coordination, which aims to achieve comprehensive care, justice, and protection for each child. Through regular case reviews, team members share expertise, assess progress, and make informed decisions that prioritize the child’s safety and well-being. By uniting agencies under one mission, the MDT strengthens the child protection system, increases successful case outcomes, and provides children and families with the support they need to heal.
